A quick recipe using all freeze-dried ingredients that serve one person. It is not too big or too small for portion size. It’s comfort food that warms the body, which can be nice in wintertime. It’s easy to prep with directions for in a bag and one pot methods.
If you haven’t used freeze-dried cheese, it can clump up while it melts, but that’s fine. It’s still quite tasty, and I love rehydrated freeze-dried cheese because it has a fun chewiness!
See here for a tutorial on how to dry pasta to make it instant. And here for how to freeze-dry cheese.

Beefy Pasta
Ingredients:
- ½ cup freeze-dried or dehydrated pasta
- ½ cup freeze-dried tomatoes
- ½ cup freeze-dried mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup freeze-dried ground beef
- 1 tsp or 1 packet low sodium beef bouillion
Directions:
Pack ingredients in a pint mason jar or a mylar bag. For longer-term storage, add a desiccant or oxygen absorber and seal. (Discard the packet before cooking.)
To prepare:
If using a freezer bag, place the bag into an FBC Cozy. Add 1¼ cups of boiled water, seal, and sit for 15 minutes. Stir well.
One Pot Method:
Bring 1¼ cups water to a boil in a small pot and stir in dry ingredients. Cover, remove the stove, and let sit for 15 minutes. In cooler temperatures or at high altitude, use a pot cozy to insulate.
Serves 1.
