Commercial Meal Review: Thrive Life Southwestern Chicken

Thrive Life Southwestern Style Chicken – just add boiling water and let sit for 10 to 15 minutes, and dinner is ready. It is part of Thrive Life’s ready to go meal collection that now has 9 meals.

It retails for $15.87 or $13.49 for those using Thrive’s Monthly Delivery service.

It is a 3 person meal, however I felt it was a hearty 2 person meal, and will fill you up well.

For 2 servings, each serving has: 495 calories, 27 grams of protein, 17.5 grams fat, and 975 mg sodium.

The ingredients of the meal. This one has both base ingredients and the sauce. Add 2 cups water and let rehydrate.

After sitting for 15 minutes, and stirred again. It is a bit on the wetter side, rather than a drier rice pilaf, but the flavor is excellent. With “southwestern” flavor profiles you can wonder if it will be good, or will it taste like a bag of taco seasoning. The best part was no cumin added! So many of the meals are wrecked by a heavy hand of this seasoning. I was so glad it wasn’t added. This was huge for me. It’s one of the few seasonings I just do not like – like I don’t mind cilantro, but cumin is like that for me.

All the ingredients rehydrated well, with nothing crunchy. The meat is sized to match the vegetables, which is always appreciated.

This meal was good. It wasn’t the best I have had, but I’d eat it happily again.
