Beef and Corn Bowl

This easy FBC (Freezer Bag Cooking) recipe can be prepped in 2 bags, or in 1, depending on you like your meal. I wanted it as a bowl, so I prepped the two parts separately.

In this recipe I use freeze-dried for the ingredients to get a quick meal made. We use Thrive Life for our freeze-dried.

Beef and Corn Bowl

In a quart freezer bag:

  • 3 Tbsp freeze-dried ground beef
  • 3 Tbsp freeze-dried cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup freeze-dried sweet corn
  • 1 tsp granulated garlic
  • Pinch of sea salt

In a quart freezer bag:

  • ½ cup instant rice
  • Pinch of sea salt

FBC Method:

Place both freezer bags in a FBC Cozy. Add 1/3 cup boiled water to the meat bag. Seal tightly Add ½ cup boiled water to the rice bag, seal tightly. Let sit for 15 minutes. Open the rice bag up, cuff it in half to make a bowl, top with the meat and vegetables.

One Bag Method:

Mix all ingredients into one bag. Add ¾ cup + 1 tbsp boiled water. Stir well, seal tightly and let sit for 15 minutes as above. Stir before eating.

One Pot Method:

Pack all ingredients in a sandwich bag. Bring 1 cup water to a boil in a small pot, add in dry ingredients, stir well and cover tightly. Turn off stove. Let sit for 15 minutes. In cool temperatures, or at altitude, put pot in a pot cozy or wrap to insulate. Stir before eating.

Serves 1.
