I devised this recipe for Kirk to meet his high-protein/low-carb desires. Some might argue that apples wouldn’t be acceptable, but eh, it works for us. Because we used unsweetened apples, a ½ cup serving os 10 grams carbs and 7 grams naturally occurring sugar. So, no, if you are keto, this may not work for you. However, you will get 40+ grams of lean protein.
It’s a huge serving, protein fills you up and keeps you sated for a long time.

High Protein Chicken and Apples
Ingredients:
- 1 cup freeze-dried chicken
- ½ cup freeze-dried apples, broken up
- 2 Tbsp shelf stable parmesan cheese
- 1 packet or 1 teaspoon low sodium chicken boullion
- 1 Tbsp or 1 packet of olive oil
Directions:
Pack in a quart freezer bag or MRE-size mylar bag, tucking the oil packet with it.
FBC Method (and mylar bag):
Place the freezer bag in an FBC cozy, and add the oil and 1 cup of boiled water. Stir well, seal and let sit for 15 minutes. Stir well before eating.
For mylar bag, add water and oil directly into the bag and proceed as above.
One Pot Method:
Bring 1 cup water and oil to a boil in a pot. Add in the dry ingredients, stirring well. Cover tightly and let sit for 15 minytes. In cooler temaptures, or at higher altitudes, use a pot cozy to insulate.
Let sit for 15 minutes, stir before eating.
Serves 1.
