This is a quick recipe using all freeze-dried ingredients that serve one person. The portion size is not too big or too small. It’s comfort food that warms the body, which can be nice in wintertime. It’s easy to prep, with directions for in-a-bag and one-pot methods.
Noodles, chicken, peas, and cheese – kids may well love this meal.
See here for a tutorial on how to dry pasta to make it instant.

Comfort Noodles
Ingredients:
- 1 cup freeze-dried or dehydrated pasta (egg noodles)
- ½ cup freeze-dried green peas
- ¼ cup freeze-dried chicken
- 1 tsp or 1 packet low sodium chicken bouillion
- ¼ tsp fine sea salt (or as desired)
Also Bring:
- 1 Tbsp or 2 packets parmesan cheese (shelf stable)
Directions:
Pack ingredients in a quart freezer bag or a mylar bag, putting the parmesan cheese in a small sack, tightly sealed. For longer-term storage, add a desiccant or oxygen absorber and seal. (Discard the packet before cooking.)
To prepare:
If using, place the freezer bag in an FBC Cozy. Add 1¼ cups boiled water, seal, and let sit for 15 minutes. Stir well, then add the cheese.
One Pot Method:
Bring 1¼ cups water to a boil in a small pot and add the dry ingredients. Stir well, cover tightly, and remove the pot from the stove. In cooler temperatures or at high altitudes, insulate in a pot cozy.
Serves 1.
