A high-protein/lower-carb recipe may seem smaller in portion, but it will fill you up due to the high protein. It pairs well with rice and pasta if you like having a carb for more calories.

Italian Beef
Ingredients:
- ½ cup freeze-dried diced beef
- ½ cup freeze-dried tomatoes
- ½ cup freeze-dried mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup freeze-dried green peas
- 1 tsp or 1 packet lower sodium beef bouillion
Directions:
Pack ingredients in a quart freezer bag or an MRE-style mylar bag. For longer-term storage, add a desiccant or oxygen absorber and seal. (Discard the packet before cooking.)
To prepare:
If using a freezer bag, place it in an FBC Cozy.
Add 1 cup of boiled water, seal, and sit for 15 minutes. Stir well.
One Pot Method:
Bring 1 cup water to a boil in a small pot, add dry ingredients, cover tightly, and remove from the burner. Let sit for 15 minutes. In cool weather or at high altitudes, insulate with a pot cozy.
Note:
Add a pinch of salt if you like it saltier.
