Commercial Meal Review: Yum Pouch Meals

Yum Pouch is an outdoor food company out of Michigan that focuses on vegan and vegetarian meals. For being veg friendly, all the meals do contain protein. The pouches are compost friendly, so the meals have a far shorter shelf life. Our meals ranged from July 2025 to December 2025 and February 2026, so be mindful of the dates.

I picked up their 3-pack sampler for $37.99, making the meals $12.66 each. It’s not the most expensive we’ve reviewed, but not the cheapest either.

Each Pouch is 1 serving, and these are generous portions. The pouches come with directions for both in pouch, or in a pot, for cooking. While the pouch method does work, being as the items dehydrated, rather than freeze-dried, the pot method will give the best results. In the pouch, you will want to rehydrate for the full 20 minutes.

Looking into a bag, at the ingredients.
Shroomin’ Roo Pasta

The Shroomin’ Roo Pasta is vegetarian, as it contains dairy milk.

The pasta is standard twist shape. I felt this one would have tasted better prepped in a pot. The other is, I’d have crumbled the whole leaf spinach before adding water.

It has a pleasant taste and texture (I just don’t like big pieces of spinach). It does contain nutritional yeast for the cheezy flavor, if you get niacin face flushes (I do), I might suggest avoiding it.

At 410 calories, 9 grams of fat, 22 grams protein,  11 grams fiber, and 700 mg sodium, it will fill one up.

Dried weight is 3.6 ounces.

Trail Blazin’ Fiesta Rice

Trail Blazin’ Fiesta Rice is vegan and gluten-free.

The brown rice hydrated the best of the 2 rice meals, and the zucchini was quite nice, as it was thinly sliced.

But a fair warning: this meal contains both TVP and chia seeds, it is very high in fiber.

The heat level was mild to me and was well spiced, though I could taste the cumin (that’s me not liking cumin overly strong).

Dried weight of 3.8 ounces. 420 calories, 8 grans fat, 520 mg sodium, 18 grams fiber, and 23 grams protein.

Mean Green Curry

With this meal featuring brown rice, I found it would have been less chewy if prepared in a pot. The tofu rehydrated well. The aroma can be strong, but the green curry sauce was nice tasting. It has the most calories and lowest sodium of the 3 meals

A dried weight of 4.1 ounces.

510 calories, 17 grams fat, 400 mg sodium, 11 grams fiber, and 19 grams protein.
