It’s time for a new Freezer Bag Cooking (FBC) recipe! This time, we revisit a fan favorite: beef stroganoff. Instead of pasta, we use rice for an easy “just add water” meal.

Depending on how you like to cook, this recipe can be prepared using the Freezer Bag Cooking method or the One-Pot Method.
The bonus of using rice as a carb is not having to precook and dry pasta, meaning you can make it right out of the grocery store. This recipe uses a dry flavor mix, and you should be able to find it in most stores as well, sold by the gravy mixes.

FBC Beef and Rice Stroganoff
Pack into a quart freezer bag:
- 1 cup instant rice
- ½ package beef stroganoff sauce mix (2 Tbsp mix)
- ¼ cup freeze-dried hamburger
- ¼ cup dried or freeze-dried crumbled mushrooms
- 2 Tbsp powdered sour cream
Also Take:
- 1 Tbsp or 1 packet olive oil
FBC Method:
Place the freezer bag in a FBC cozy or similar. Add in the oil packet and 1½ cups boiled water, stirring well. Seal tightly and rehydrate for 15 minutes.
Serves 1 large appetite.

And done in the One Pot Method:

One Pot Method:
In a pot, bring 1½ cups water and the oil to a boil. Add the dry ingredients, stirring well. Remove the pot from the stove and cover tightly. In cooler temperatures or at high altitudes, insulate with a pot cozy or similar.
Let rehydrate for 15 minutes.
Serves 1 large appetite.
