For review today is a breakfast from Next Mile Meals, Steak Omelette with Green Bell Peppers. Just think Denver Omelette with beef instead of ham, and you will have it down. Eggs, cheese, bell peppers and meat go far to fill the belly.
Next Mile Meals focus is Keto friendly outdoor meals. They are not certified for gluten-free, but don’t contain it. Take that however you want.
The breakfast is protein heavy, at 38 grams for the bag (which serves 1). The only drawback is I found it too salty for my taste buds, but…we don’t salt our food heavily at home. If you are like me, I would suggest splitting the eggs with a partner and having them over some freshly prepped instant rice with salsa on the side, to lower the sodium intake (1,459 for the bag/serving).
The taste is great, and the texture is good. Prep is easy, boiling water and park somewhere warm for 10 to 15 minutes.
Let’s be blunt here: Always carry the avocado with you. About 15 years ago a hiking partner sat at lunch and pulled out one. I had never thought to do that. She would wrap them in a paper towel (later to be used to clean with) and put it into her drink cup. Slice in half, eat with your spoon straight out of the shell, or run your spoon around the edge, then slice up and scoop out. Fresh avocado provides a lot of what you need while hiking: Easy to digest fat, Vitamin C, Magnesium and Potassium, and more so…solid calories.
Add this to the eggs, and you have an even better breakfast.
