Food Find: Gastro Gnome Shepherd’s Pie

For our second review of Gastro Gnome, we picked up a bag of Gastro Gnome Shepherd’s Pie.

This is a far more positive review for their meals than our first. Let’s get that out of the way.

If you see this box, in your mail box, it might make you a wee bit happy. It is a cute design.

At $19.25, this isn’t the most expensive we have reviewed, but it is on the high end.

However, the ingredient list is clean – and you will pay for not eating cheap fillers. It’s pretty close to what one would use at home!

Dry ingredients.

Following the directions, I added the water called for. Anything with mashed potatoes requires a lot of stirring – so you don’t dry dust pockets. Once done, seal and let sit – I gave it 15 minutes.

I enjoyed this meal, as did my oldest. It’s definitely a “rib-sticker” meal that fills you up. It might not look glamorous, but the flavor was good. My only complaint was that it could have been a little less salty. It’s not awful at 1125 mg (there are far higher sodium level shepherd pies out there for sure), I am just personally used to meals at around 700 being my top. But this meal is a great choice on hot days, when you need both sodium and potassium. Everything rehydrated well.

I would definitely recommend this dish.
