This is a carb version of our recent recipe for those who like carbs with their meat. It’s still high in protein but will fill you up on demanding trips or let you stretch the meal to serve 2.

Chicken and Apple Rice
Ingredients:
- 1 cup instant rice
- ½ cup freeze-dried chicken
- ½ cup freeze-dried apples, crumbled
- ¼ cup freeze-dried mozzarella cheese
- 1 tsp or packet low sodium chicken broth powder
- 1/8 tsp fine sea salt
Also Take:
- 1 Tbsp or 1 packet of olive oil
Directions:
Pack dry ingredients in a quart freezer bag or MRE-style mylar bag.
FBC Method:
Place the quart freezer bag in an FBC Cozy, add in oil and 1½ cups boiled water. Stir well, seal tightly, and let sit for 15 minutes.
Add oil and boiled water to the mylar bag, stir, and let sit for 15 minutes.
One Pot Method:
Bring the oil and 1½ cups water to a boil in your pot. Add the dry ingredients, stir well, and cover. Remove the pot from the stove and let it sit for 15 minutes. In cooler temperatures or at high altitudes, use a pot cozy to insulate.
~Serves 1 large appetite or 2 smaller ones, it is a very filling meal.
