Food Find: Fillo’s Walking Tamales (Two More Flavors)

I first reviewed Fillo’s Walking Tamales back in 2024. I recently came across more of the line at a Sprout’s store.

The tamales are a great snack to add to your food bag. They are designed to be eaten right out of the bag, no heating needed. No utensils either, just push it out from the bottom. If you love corn, you might love these.

As I was taking photos, I looked over to see an Eastern Garden Snake cooling off in the forest. Now then, the copious poison ivy around said snake was the real issue. I have learned one thing about West Virginia (and the south in general) – you always look where you’re walking and keep an eye out for friends – and enemies.

There are 7 varieties, 5 savory and 2 are sweet. They are non-GMO corn and are gluten-free.

Corn Poblano Rajas

Ingredients:

Water, Nixtamalized Corn, Sweet Corn, Poblano Pepper, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Spinach, Sea Salt, Jalapeno Pepper, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Baking Soda

Nutritional Stats:

They are not overly hot or spicy and have a nice, savory flavor from the poblano peppers. I liked this one the best.

On Amazon for $2.69 each.

Sweet Corn Elotes

Ingredients:

WATER, SWEET CORN, NIXTAMALIZED CORN FLOUR, EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL, BROWN SUGAR, SEA SALT, BAKING SODA

Nutritional Stats:

On Amazon as a 7-pack for $29.99.

Do you like street corn? No heat in this one; it is mild, sprinkled with corn. I enjoyed the flavor. It is a bit sweet versus savory.
