Food Find: Fillo’s Walking Tamales

I came across Fillo’s Walking Tamales in a package of food items I ordered via Yumble. Savory snacks have always been a favorite of mine in a world of sugar-filled food. Their tamales are plant-based/vegan.

Bean Salsa Verde. Mild and very pleasantly flavored. Great texture cold. Eating tamales cold on the trail isn’t something I’d normally think about eating, but this worked. I was hiking light, so I had no cooking gear with me, but I have to think a lightweight frying pan and some oil plus a quick heat-up would be even better.

They sell a combo on Amazon of 3 savory flavors that range from mild to spicy. A reader mentioned that he had seen them at his local Wal-Mart as well.

Their tamales are non-GMO certified (something important with corn-based food) and are packed in a mylar bag. Just rip open and enjoy.

Ingredients: Tomatillo, Corn Flour, Water, Mayocoba Beans, Garbanzo Beans, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Cilantro, Sea Salt, Serrano Pepper, Garlic Powder, Baking Soda, Brown Sugar, Onion Powder, Black Pepper.
