Food Find: Northwest Pear Chips

Sisters Fruit Company makes a line of crunchy fruit chips. These chips are made from thinly sliced fruit (apples, pears, mangoes, and peaches) with a bit of cane sugar and flavorings.

The pear chips are produced in a nut-free facility, making them an excellent choice for people with peanut/nut allergies. They are also gluten-free.

The bag of Pear Chips is 2.25 ounces and can be found in stores’ dried/freeze-dried fruit section. We have a local independent store that carries part of the line. If you buy them online, you can get the entire line on the Sisters website. A bag retails for $7.00. They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. If you want a well-crafted snack, this one is well-made.

Amazon sells them in a 6-pack with their delicious apple chips as well.

These are whole fruit, so you might see a speck of seed, easy enough to poke out and continue eating. The bag disappeared quickly, with our youngest commenting, “These grow on you,” as he returned for more. Even the dog enjoyed her share. They are crunchy, not chewy, and mildly sweet. Oh, and yes, it has a resealable bag. If they last that long while out hiking…
