Five Trail Snacks To Make

It’s far too easy to get into the habit of taking along bland energy bars. Far better to visit flavor town…just a bit of work will have you on the trail with great options. All freeze well for long term snacks. Just grab and let thaw on the way to the trailhead. Of the 5 recipes, all but the Dandelion Muffins will carry for weeks.

Backwoods Whoopie Pies – These treats are a raw one, dense and filling.

Curried Trail Mix – Have a savory nutty trail mix instead of sugary. In warmer temperatures be sure to wrap well with plastic cling wrap.

Dandelion Muffins – Bite size, full of sunshine. These can be made with wheat flour or gluten-free, both options are given.

Raw Oreos – Similar in texture to the Backwoods Pies above, these will win your nut lovers when hiking. In warmer temperatures be sure to wrap well with plastic cling wrap.

Sweet Coconut Curry Bars – Granola bars can be both sweet and savory. Easy to make, these will fuel you.
