Comparing meals in a review is a fun way to review commercial meals. This time, we are comparing two Pack It Gourmet egg breakfasts. The Diner Deluxe Eggs come in two varieties. One has sausage added; the other is vegetarian. It gives both sides an option.
Both Diner Deluxe Eggs are single-serving and will fill you up, with each bag containing over 400 calories.
To prepare, both meals are add cool water, let hydrate, then cook in a non-stick frypan or small pot. So yes, there is actual cooking involved. But that provides a tastier egg than pre-cooked scrambled eggs that are freeze-dried.

Both versions.

Diner Deluxe Eggs With Sausage. Priced at $12.99. This meal is a single serving and provides 24 grams of protein.

Easy to prepare: Add ¾ cups of cool water and let hydrate for 5 minutes. Scramble in a non-stick pan until just cooked, then serve.
Of the two egg dishes, I found the sausage needed at least 10 minutes of rehydration time. It was a bit crunchy. Still edible, but compared to the vegetarian version below, it came in second. A nice spicy bit of heat and the sausage adds a lot of flavor. It would work great as a filling in trail burritos.

Diner Deluxe Egg Scramble. This vegetarian egg scramble is a rich omelet and would make an excellent filling for egg tacos or burritos.
Priced at $12.49, this single-serving bag contains 24 grams of protein and will fill almost anyone up.

The eggs take ¾ cups of cool water to rehydrate. The package comes with an olive oil packet to cook with. I found it hydrated perfectly in 5 minutes of sitting time and quickly scrambled. The flavor is very pleasant, and you’d be hard-pressed to know these are freeze-dried egg crystals and not fresh eggs. There is no wateriness in the eggs.
I didn’t feel it needed any salsa; it was great on its own. I recommend these eggs and really enjoyed them.
