This breakfast backpacking recipe is a no-cook cold cereal and is vegan-friendly.
Cran-Orange Cereal
Ingredients:
¾ cup bulgur
¼ cup dried cranberries
2 Tbsp dried blueberries
3 Tbsp orange powder (see note)
¼ cup toasted chopped walnuts
Instructions:
Pack everything but the nuts in a sandwich bag. Put the nuts in a small bag.
In Camp:
Add 1½ cup cool water to the bag before going to bed.
Add walnuts (or your favorite nuts/seeds) in the morning.
Serves 1.
Notes:
For the orange powder, run freeze-dried oranges through a blender. You can substitute Tang® or similar orange-flavored dry powder, but it isn’t quite the same.
