Make It At Home.
It’s the fun way to while away the winter, and be prepped and ready to go come spring time. The Winter Solstice will be here in just over a week! The DIY recipes I’ll be sharing this winter are ones I developed for our farm’s website. I am an herbalist on the side with our farm/homestead and did you know I wrote a book on this?
Not every essential oil is considered safe for young children, and especially for infants and toddlers (peppermint is one to be wary of). This recipe can be made in two strengths, depending on age. As always, it is up to the parent to determine if a recipe is safe for youngest children. When using essential oils on children, buy trusted brands. (An article I wrote about buying EO’s) (Also, a shout out to a great company on Whidbey Island, their farm is just a few miles from us. Whidbey Herbal makes essential oils from their farm.)
I hope you enjoy the recipes below, and there will be a number more of them coming in the next month. Because otherwise…..you are all cooped up on the dark rainy days…

Spray on as needed, avoiding eyes, mouth, nose, and inner ears.
Bugs Away Spray (For Under 2 years of age)

- 1 ounce witch hazel
- 1 ounce distilled water
- 3 drops citronella essential oil
- 3 drops lavender essential oil
Directions:

For safest use with smaller children/infants, spray clothing and put on, instead of using directly on skin. Do not use on infants under 3 months of age, and if applying on skin, make sure they cannot suck on the skin (such as fingers).
