Apples & Twigs

Ingredients:
  • 1 apple
  • 1 packet peanut butter or seed/nut butter
  • 2 Tbsp granola of choice
  • 2 Tbsp mini semi-sweet chocolate chips

At home:

Pack the granola and chocolate chips in a snack bag. For a backpacking trip, pack the apple into a cup or mug to protect. For day trips, slice your apple and toss with a little fresh lemon juice to prevent browning, then pack in a small bag. Tuck the peanut butter packet in with it. For ease in preparing, pack a small sheet of parchment paper to work on.

On trail:

Slice the apple up (if it isn’t already sliced) and lay it on the parchment paper. Spread the peanut butter evenly on top. Dip the slices in the granola bag, then enjoy!

Notes:
For best results, use a small-sized granola or run it through a blender/min food chopper to make it small.
You can also make one slice up, then top with another apple slice to make an apple sammie.
PS: What kind of apple? Whatever YOU like best! In the produce department, you can also find bags of pre-sliced apples in many grocery stores these days.
Great for last-minute trips.
