Looking for a warming bowl of noodles that is as filling as a plate of pasta, but is brothy and packed with protein? You’ll fall in love with ramen in this recipe!
French Onion Noodle Bowl
Ingredients:
- 3 ounce package ramen
- 3 Tbsp diced dried onion
- 2 Tbsp freeze-dried hamburger or shredded beef
- 2 tsp low sodium beef bouillon (2 packets)
- 1 Tbsp freeze-dried or dried celery, crumbled
- 1⁄4 cup instant stuffing mix (Stove Top)
Instructions:
At home pack the onion, hamburger, bouillon, celery in a small zip-top snack bag. Pack the stuffing in a small zip-top snack bag and tuck the ramen noodles with the bags.
One pot method:
Add 2 cups water to your pot (a 1.2 to 2 Liter pot). Add in the bag containing the onions and beef.
Discard the “flavor” packet for the ramen.
Bring the water to a boil, add in the ramen and cook on a gentle boil for 3 minutes, stirring often, and lowering the flame as needed. Pull off the heat and top with the stuffing mix.
Serves 1.
Notes:
On the powdered bouillon, you can use broth sticks instead (that are a liquid) and they are somewhat lower sodium, though the dry powder we use (see link above) is sodium free. You can of course use the “flavor” packet in the ramen, let’s just say it doesn’t taste as good, and is very salty!
Use whatever flavor of Stove Top you like, we used Chicken.
To make fully traditional, top with a little Swiss cheese to melt on top of the croutons.
