Sipping Hot Chocolate

Cold mornings call for warm drinks, and this backpacking recipe for rich cocoa is great for all ages. For adults, add instant espresso powder for a mocha.

Sipping Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup dry milk
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • Pinch fine sea salt
  • 2 Tbsp chocolate chips

Directions:

Mix the dry milk, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt with a fork until well-mixed. Divide in half and put into two snack-size bags. Add 1 Tablespoon chocolate chips to each bag and seal tightly.

Mark each bag: “Add 1 cup of water”.

In camp:

Add one bag of mix to a mug and stir in 1 cup boiling water till smooth.

Makes two servings total.
