Food Review: Wanderlands

I had been seeing (many) ads on social media for Wanderlands, touted as umami trail mix, in flavor combinations you might not have had before.

I caved and ordered all three flavors.

What I noticed upon opening is the texture. They are not “dry” trail mix (many trail mixes are just nuts/seeds/candy), but rather like how granola is coated. Crispy trail mix, that is pleasantly crunchy.

If you’re from the PNW, you might have bought Sahale nut mixes at REI or local grocery stores. It is similar, but far better, crispy texture and far less sugar. That’s a win for how we eat.

The 3 flavors. They come in mylar bags which have a good seal. Easy to pack and take along.
Mineral Creek Wilds
Of the three varieties, this is the spicy/heat one. I liked the carrots. They are puffed up and crispy.
Mesa After Rain
Of the varities, this one is most sticky-together. Black sesame seeds shine in it.
Into Snowy Woods
The puffed fava beans are good. Great texture, almost like glazed popcorn.

While not cheap, the sampler 3-pack is $38.97, and it is quite tasty. The flavors are one of a kind, and the combination of salt and sweet is addictive. I’m a pecan fan, and the New Mexico pecans are delicious.

They use avocado 🥑 oil, avoiding cheap seed oil use, which makes me happy in my purchase.

Definitely a bougie treat, I found these to be worth the cost.
