Float Away

Yesterday was like Fall arrived on Whidbey Island.

It was a wool sweater day, and by the afternoon, we had the yellow leaves flittering down out of the trees, with the sun trying to peek through.

But in the early morning, the fog was thick on the Salish Sea.

You could see just across the Salish Sea, towards Port Townsend, on the Olympic Peninsula.

I have never tired of watching the ferry come to the landing. I always feel like I am still a child for just a couple minutes.

It’s narrow here, especially at low tide.

The ferry coming in.

Setting sail, watching the island disappear into the fog.

Adventure waited for me, walking the hills of the Quimper Penisula.

A day on the Wa State ferry system is always better than a day in the office. Even if I stood in the clouds, I love it as fall settles in. The air is clear, and it smells of quietness.
