Spiced Maple Pecans

Spiced Maple Pecans

Ingredients:
  • 3 cups unsalted pecan halves
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground cardamom
Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

In a large bowl, mix the maple syrup and spices. Add in the pecans and stir until well-coated. Spread the pecans on the prepared pan in a single layer. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes, until toasted and most of the syrup is absorbed.

Let cool, then shake the nuts off of the paper. Store in a tightly sealed freezer bag till trail time – and use up within a couple weeks.

Notes:
For those who like a little salt, add a few shakes of kosher or sea salt when coating with maple syrup or when the hot nuts come out of the oven. To save money, buy your nuts at Costco or similar. Store the big bags in a tightly sealed container in your refrigerator or freezer.
