Sweet N’ Salty Chicken Trasherole

Love sweet n’ salty? With a crunchy topping? A helping of this backpacking recipe rice dish will fill your tummy nicely.

Sweet N’ Salty Chicken Trasherole

In a quart freezer bag:

  • 2 cups instant rice

Also take:

  • 7-ounce pouch chicken
  • 2 packets broth concentrate
  • 4 “buttery” packets or 2 packets olive oil
  • 4 packets “honey sauce” or 4 packets honey
  • 1 single serving kettle style potato chips

FBC Method:

Put the rice bag in a cozy, open it and add the chicken, broth concentrate, buttery spread, honey sauce and 2 cups near boiling water. Stir well, seal tightly, and leave in cozy for 15 minutes.

Gently crush the potato chips through the bag (if at altitude, open bag first). Stir meal, divide between 2 bags or a spare bowl/cup and top with chips. If desired, drizzle a bit more honey sauce on top.

One Pot Method:

Add cups water, chicken, broth concentrate, buttery spread, and honey sauce to a pot (preferably 1.3 Liter and bigger), bring to a boil. Stir in rice, cover tightly and take off stove, let sit for 10 minutes. In cooler temperatures, or at altitude, use a pot cozy.

Gently crush the potato chips through the bag (if at altitude, open bag first). Stir meal, divide between pot and a bag, bowl, or cup for second serving, and top with chips. If desired, drizzle a bit more honey sauce on top.
