I recently received samples from FreshPackUSA, a company that makes an extensive line of Mylar and plastic bags, which are great for use in storing outdoor gear and backpacking meals.
One of the items was a Nine Lives Wet Phone Fix, which caught my eye. (It is also on Amazon as well)
Over the years, one of my biggest fears has been dropping my phone in the water when on trips. OK, maybe the worst one is me dropping it into the sea or ocean and never seeing it again, but dropping it in a creek or lake is also right up there. If I can’t dry it, I would be so upset if it will be fine when I get home. Most of us live our lives online, and our mobile phones are the main portal to it now. We use our phones for so much. Most people now don’t take a separate camera. Some of us use our phones even to drive our cars. You don’t want to lose that part.
So when I saw the mylar bag, I thought: This bag is UL and easy to tuck into a backpack. Consider it part of your first aid kit for your gear. And think about that: What do you carry to fix things? A tiny roll of duct tape? Often, that is all. You can fix shoes that fall apart, a torn jacket, pants, and such with it.
The package weighs 44 grams (1.55 ounces), just a slip of weight to carry. It is 6.5″ by 10.5″ inches in size.

Can I tell you if it works? Well, I hope I never have to use it. I see it as insurance and have tucked it into my backpack. In ways, I see it the same way I do my phone’s sturdy case. I hope not to drop my phone, and that Otter Box case is insurance. It costs $9.99 to $19.99, and considering how expensive mobile phones can be, that is low-cost insurance.
