The last time I visited Shepherdstown, West Virginia, was in 2003. During this visit to West Virginia, we had more time to explore. Kirk showed me around (he graduated from Shepherd University) and took me down to a favorite place of his back in the day.

River Front Park, where Town Run Creek rushes down to the Potomac River. It is also known as the Princess Street Boat Launch. It is a very steep switch back road down to the river.

Even in the cold weather, the Creek was running.

Looking down the river to the railroad bridge. There is a short trail to walk, with a bridge over the creek.

Across the water is Maryland and the C & O Canal Trail. Above that, the AT winds down from Loudon Heights.
I didn’t dally too long. It was 24* out and I was feeling the cold.
We sat in the car, and I learned a lot of history about the crossing, as it was called Pack Horse Ford when the first pioneers came out and the history of the Civil War here. Fascinating. I have so much to learn.
