DIY Baking Mix
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1⁄2 cup dry nonfat milk
  • 2 Tbsp baking powder
  • 1 1⁄2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 cup shortening

At home:

Combine the flour, milk, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Cut in the shortening until it is small beads.

Store in tightly closed covered container or gallon freezer bag in a cool place.

Notes:
This recipe can be used for both sweet or savory recipes where “baking mix” or Bisquick© is called for. Use the same portions.
Feel free to use powder coconut, soy milk for the dairy milk.
You can also add in sugar to the base recipe if desired.
