Finding outdoor clothing for tall men might be harder than finding it for plus size women, so when Kirk finds items that work for him, it’s a good day.
He bought a number of new items via Amazon for our trip to Alaska and these are the items he was happy with. 4 are Amazon Essentials brand, plus one other brand. All are great if you have a long torso like Kirk has (he is 6 foot 4 inches). Finding shirts, jackets, vests that hit mid hip isn’t easy. All 5 clothing items offer just larger sizing, and tall as well. All are machine washable, easy care.
You might not think of a zip hoody as outdoor wear, but if you want something to cut the chill when camping, or riding in your truck back home, this hoody is worth it. Also great for short wives to steal as it’s almost a dress on me. These go up to a 6XT and run about $44.
These shirts are soft, have thumbholes, and look great on. The sizes are partially sold out, but at least one color goes to 3XT. The shirts run about $31 each, which might seem a bit pricy, but these are thick, durable shirts.
At around $19 a shirt, some of the colors come in up to a 4XT. They are 100% polyester, wick and are lightweight. They have UV protection as well.
You need a base shirt, this is it. And it’s cut long for that torso.
At under $50, this is a slim cut softshell jacket. It comes in up to a 5XT. Kirk liked the cut, the fit but did say it could have breathed a bit more. If you hike in drier situations, it would be fine, but it was pretty humid in the Tongrass National Forest (a temperate rainforest). Plenty of pockets, that zip up.
These go to 5XT (6X as well). It’s your basic go to Polar Fleece vest. Functional and your back isn’t freezing because it’s too short. At less than $26, it’s also affordable. Zips up high, straight hem that covers.
Go to Alaska…and I got literally 1 photo of him. He’s got the soft shell on in it.
