Squak Valley North Trail

As we’d drive to Issaquah, Washington I watched the trails being built alongside Issaquah-Hobart Road. The Squak Valley North Trail sits below Squak Mountain, in the valley between it and Tiger. Finding the parking lots can be tricky, as they are not signed well. If coming towards Issaquah, from Hwy 18, the trailhead is on the left. It is just a bit after you pass the well marked Squak Valley Park. There is a second entrance on the edge of Issaquah, though it seems more designed for those walking from town, versus driving. See here for a great PDF map of all Issaquah Trails. The park is free to use.

Looking down on the trails, that wind through an open area. The first part passes an old orchard.

Looking towards Tiger, across the valley.

Dogwood in bloom.

The boys had a lot of fun finding dry flower heads.

The park has a number of pieces of art installed along the way.

At the far end a side trail goes to an overlook and access to Issquah Creek, which is a salmon bearing stream.
